At the beginning of Chapter 3, we will discuss the differences between gymnastics and modern exercise methods, so that everyone can better understand the "old school" gymnastics

Chapter 3 Bodyweight Exercise With modernFitnessmethods

Prisoner's Manifesto

No need to go to the gym, no need You can become powerful using barbells, dumbbells, expensive equipment, and other gimmicks, and I'm living proof of that. Many of my “disciples” in prisons across the United States can attest to this. But my method is very different from the modern popular method, and many bodybuilders will have doubts about this method. The reason my views are out of step with the times is that I come from prison. There are no protein powders, no adjustable barbells, no Nautilus or Bowflex combos, just a harsh environment: where you only have your body, the dangers at every turn, and a lot of time. Come build muscles and become stronger. Many inmates and I have achieved this goal, but we have used our own bodies and ancient traditional techniques that have been tested for hundreds of years rather than relying on all kinds of equipment and gimmicky gadgets. thing.

Some people will never think that "old school" gymnastics works because they have been brainwashed into thinking that they can only reach their full potential with the help of equipment. If you're going to accept my approach, you'll have to put aside all your previously accepted opinions and at least take the time to try my approach. In this chapter I will tell you why everything about modern fitness is either a lie or just plain wrong, and why it is misleading you.

Modern sports culture--the ugly illegitimate child

I love strength and fitness. But when I saw the training methods and the direction sports were taking outside prison, I almost wanted to go back to San Quentin - knock on the cold door and walk back to the cell. “Old school” gymnastics has become extinct, and so has sports culture. Things had never been this bad before. Never before.

Some people disagree with me. They use some elite athletes and world record holders as evidence to prove that fitness methods have never been as advanced as they are now. But wait a minute, forget about the sports champions and professional bodybuilders on TV. Thanks to recent media reports, the general public has come to believe that most of the top athletes (believe it or not) are simply taking performance enhancing drugs. Medications - such as anabolic steroids, testosterone variants, human growth hormone, insulin, and many, many others - are used to achieve (temporarily) high levels of physical performance. Even just a few years into their careers, they may find themselves on painkillers, cortisone, sedatives, and other drugs that allow their joints to (temporarily) cope with the counterintuitive stresses of training and competition. This is not to mention the narcotic drugs that are rampant in professional sports, such as alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, and even methamphetamine. The use of these drugs in the sports world has become extremely common today, and those weak-willed athletes cannot adapt to the pressure of competition. So I turn to them. What about their training methods? Contrary to the stories you've heard or read, few professional athletes know how to exercise properly. Most talented athletes are picked up at the high school level (or even younger) and receive "professional" instruction - coaches who take care of everything for them.

Kill the gym!

Let’s put aside the exercise methods of professional athletes and bodybuilders, and ignore for the moment the exercise methods of prisoners. What about others?

They are influenced by magazines, television programs, sportsInfluenced by fitness experts and even government health departments, people believe that if they want to have a good figure, they have to go to the gym. What do they do in the gym? Generally, they do two things: aerobic training and weight training - using a variety of expensive machines.

I’m hard-pressed to think of a more useless, depressing, and boring place than the cardio machine section of a modern gym. You may have seen gym members using these machines to work out, silently pretending that they are rowing, cycling or walking up non-existent steps. I can say that this has almost no real effect. What about those who do weight training? In my eyes they can be divided into two types: The first is the common, squeamish "shaper" - they do low rep exercises or pick up the tiniest dumbbells and start lifting and lowering them over and over again while doing so Count the sides. If you're wearing something made of spandex and posing around chrome-plated gym equipment everywhere, it might look pretty good. But let’s be honest, it’s not going to help your health at all. The second type is the "muscles" who do weight training. They can really bench press (lift heavy weights) and have well-developed biceps. However, this training method destroys their joints and does nothing to build real usable strength. Modern bodybuilding training ignores or destroys parts of the body such as the erector spinae, waist, hands, feet, neck, and deep tissues of the body (such as the transversus abdominis or rotator cuff) that are essential for true useful strength and athleticism. important. Many people think that as long as their muscles can fill up their T-shirts, that’s enough. Is that really the case?

It's basically just stupid, sick stretching in between sets that does no good. It’s a standard procedure in the gym. Do you think this is fitness?
